Ex-Employees of GHA Coaches Urged to Contact JMW’s Employment Law Team Following Administration Announcement
JMW has urged former employees of GHA Coaches to get in touch with its employment law team following the bus company recently going into administration. JMW is on hand to offer legal advice to all affected employees regarding their dismissals and the company’s alleged failure to properly consult with them.
Reports in the press reveal that GHA Coaches has been wound up by HMRC following a substantial unpaid tax bill that it was unable to settle. Over 300 employees have reportedly lost their jobs following the announcement. The Wales-based company had control of over 230 vehicles but failed to generate enough revenue to keep itself afloat.
JMW would like to advise former employees of the options available to them following their redundancy and to offer advice and support to everyone affected at this difficult time. Employees should be aware that even if they have already made a claim to the Redundancy Payments Office by submitting an RP1/RP2 form they can still make a claim for the Protective Award which is secured by the National Insurance Fund (for up to 8 weeks wages) for the Company’s failure to consult with them prior to their redundancy.
JMW Solicitors has already been instructed by a number of ex employees of GHA Coaches to make a claim for the Protective Award in the employment tribunal and JMW will continue to take new instructions from clients until 5 pm on 3 October 2016.
Chloe Themistocleous, a key member of JMW’s employment team, says:
